In short. You start on a 14-day free trial with no card. After that you choose a plan, billed monthly or yearly. Plans differ in how many students and staff they cover and which modules they include. If a payment fails there is a grace period before access is restricted.
The free trial
Registering an institution starts a 14-day trial. No card is required. You get the features of the plan you selected, so you are evaluating the real thing rather than a cut-down version.
One trial is available per institution. Academiq emails you before it ends — a reminder goes out in the final days — and the remaining days are shown in the application while the trial is running.
What plans control
Plans differ along two lines:
- Size — the maximum number of students and teachers included.
- Modules — which parts of the product are switched on.
The modules that vary by plan are: exam management, assignment management, hostel management, transport management, accountant management, advanced reports, API access, custom branding and priority support.
Current prices for each plan are on the pricing section of the website, which shows exactly what each one includes.
A module that is not in your plan does not appear in the menu. If a section of this guide describes something you cannot find, check your plan first — that is the most common reason.
Billing
Plans are billed in advance in Nigerian Naira, monthly or yearly, and yearly billing is offered at a discount to the equivalent monthly price. Payment is handled by Paystack; Academiq does not store your card details.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel first.
Managing your subscription
Administrators manage the subscription under More › Subscription; accountants have it on their own portal. From there you can see the current plan and its status, when the next payment is due, and change or cancel the plan.
If a payment fails
A failed payment does not cut you off immediately. The subscription enters a grace period, during which the system keeps working and you can put the payment right. The length of that period is shown in your subscription settings.
If the grace period passes without payment, access is restricted. Your data is not deleted at that point — see the retention terms in the Privacy Policy.
Cancelling
Cancel at any time from your subscription settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for. The refund position is set out in the Terms of Service.
Changing plan
Moving between plans changes which modules are available from that point. Turning a module off does not delete what is in it. Hostel allocations or transport routes stop being reachable while the module is off and reappear if it is switched back on.
